Call to Worship
Psalm 148:1-14
Leader: Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens; praise him in the heights! Praise him, all his angels; praise him, all his hosts!
All: Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars! Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens!
Leader: Let them praise the name of the LORD! For he commanded and they were created. And he established them forever and ever; he gave a decree, and it shall not pass away.
All: Praise the LORD from the earth, you great sea creatures and all deeps, fire and hail, snow and mist, stormy wind fulfilling his word! Mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars! Beasts and all livestock, creeping things and flying birds!
Leader: Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth! Young men and maidens together, old men and children! Let them praise the name of the LORD, for his name alone is exalted; his majesty is above earth and heaven.
All: He has raised up a horn for his people, praise for all his saints, for the people of Israel who are near to him. Praise the LORD!
The Lord’s Prayer
Arrangement: Matt Maher
Father, let Your Kingdom come, Father, let Your will be done
On Earth as in Heaven right here in my heart
Father, let Your Kingdom come, Father, let Your will be done
On Earth as in Heaven right here in my heart
Give us this day, our daily bread; Forgive us, forgive us
As we forgive the ones who sin against us, forgive them
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the еvil one
Let Your Kingdom come
It's Yours, it's Yours, all Yours, all Yours
The Kingdom, the power, the glory are Yours
It's Yours, it's Yours, all Yours, all Yours
Forever and ever, the Kingdom is Yours
It's Yours (It's Yours), it's Yours (It's Yours)
All Yours (All Yours), all Yours (All Yours)
The Kingdom (The Kingdom), the power (The power), the glory are Yours
It's Yours (It's Yours), it's Yours (It's Yours)
All Yours (All Yours), all Yours (All Yours)
Forever (Forever) and ever (And ever), the Kingdom is Yours
Confession of Sin
2 Corinthians 4:7-12
Leader: But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.
All: We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed;
Leader: perplexed, but not driven to despair;
All: persecuted, but not forsaken;
Leader: struck down, but not destroyed;
All: always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you.
Silent Prayers of Confession
Assurance of Forgiveness
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
All: So we do not lose heart. Though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
My Worth is Not in What I Own
Keith Getty, Kristyn Getty, and Graham Kendrick (2014)
My worth is not in what I own
Not in the strength of flesh and bone
But in the costly wounds of love
At the cross
My worth is not in skill or name
In win or lose, in pride or shame
But in the blood of Christ that flowed
At the cross
Chorus:I rejoice in my Redeemer
Greatest treasure
Wellspring of my soul
I will trust in Him, no other
My soul is satisfied in Him alone
As summer flowers we fade and die
Fame, youth and beauty hurry by
But life eternal calls to us
At the cross
I will not boast in wealth or might
Or human wisdom's fleeting light
But I will boast in knowing Christ
At the cross (Chorus)
Two wonders here that I confess
My worth and my unworthiness
My value fixed, my ransom paid
At the cross (Chorus)
How Marvelous
By Charles Hutchinson Gabriel
I stand amazed in the presence
Of Jesus the Nazarene
And wonder how He could love me
A sinner, condemned, unclean
Chorus:
How marvelous! How wonderful!
And my song shall ever be
How marvelous! How wonderful!
Is my Savior's love for me!
He took my sins and my sorrows
He made them His very own
He bore the burden to Calvary
And suffered and died alone
When with the ransomed in glory
His face I at last shall see
'Twill be my joy through the ages
To sing of His love for me

Sermon Passage
2 Corinthians 12:1-10
12:1 I must go on boasting. Though there is nothing to be gained by it, I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord. 2 I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven- whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows. 3 And I know that this man was caught up into paradise- whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows- 4 and he heard things that cannot be told, which man may not utter. 5 On behalf of this man I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except of my weaknesses. 6 Though if I should wish to boast, I would not be a fool, for I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain from it, so that no one may think more of me than he sees in me or hears from me. 7 So to keep me from being too elated by the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from being too elated. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. 9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Sermon
"A Thorn with a Purpose"
Pastor Mike McBride
God of Calvary
By Matt Maher, Chris Tomlin, Jonas Myrin, and Matthew James Redman
On the hill of Calvary the Light of all the world
With the world on His shoulders
The weight of all our shame on Him who knew no sin
A holy surrender
The sky went dark; the angels wept
The Father looked away
The final breath; He bowed His head
The Lamb of God was slain
CHORUS:
By His wounds I am set free
By His blood I've been redeemed
The great divide He crossed for me
Oh, praise the God of Calvary
On the hill of Calvary into His Father's hands
A holy surrender
A borrowed tomb; His mother wept
And there His body lay
The stone was moved; He conquered death
And rose from the grave
And if I ever, ever lose sight of this place
I will never, ever lose sight of Your grace
Your cross is all, all I need to see
Oh, praise the God of Calvary

By Faith
By Keith and Kristyn Getty
By faith we see the hand of God
In the light of creation’s grand design
In the lives of those who prove His faithfulness
Who walk by faith and not by sight
By faith our fathers roamed the earth
With the power of His promise in their hearts
Of a holy city built by God’s own hand
A place where peace and justice reign
CHORUS:
We will stand as children of the promise
We will fix eyes on Him, our soul’s reward
‘Till the race is finished and the work is done
We’ll walk by faith and not by sight
By faith the prophets saw a day
When the longed-for Messiah would appear
With the power to break the chains of sin and death
And rise triumphant from the grave
By faith the church was called to go
In the power of the Spirit to the lost
To deliver captives and to preach good news
In every corner of the earth (Chorus)
By faith this mountain shall be moved
And the power of the gospel shall prevail
For we know in Christ all things are possible
For all who call upon His name (Chorus)
Benediction
