Call to Worship
Romans 8:18-23

LEADER:  For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.

Prayer of Adoration

The Lord’s Prayer
Arrangement: Matt Maher

Father, let Your Kingdom come, Father, let Your will be done
On Earth as in Heaven right here in my heart
Father, let Your Kingdom come, Father, let Your will be done
On Earth as in Heaven right here in my heart

Give us this day, our daily bread; Forgive us, forgive us
As we forgive the ones who sin against us, forgive them
And lead us not into temptation, but deliv - er us from the еvil one
Let Your Kingdom come

It's Yours, it's Yours, all Yours, all Yours
The Kingdom, the power, the glory are Yours
It's Yours, it's Yours, all Yours, all Yours
Forever and ever, the Kingdom is Yours
It's Yours (It's Yours), it's Yours (It's Yours)
All Yours (All Yours), all Yours (All Yours)
The Kingdom (The Kingdom), the power (The power), the glory are Yours
It's Yours (It's Yours), it's Yours (It's Yours)
All Yours (All Yours), all Yours (All Yours)
Forever (Forever) and ever (And ever), the Kingdom is Yours

All Creatures Of Our God And King
By St. Francis of Assisi (1225); Translated by William H. Draper; Arr: David Crowder

All creatures of our God and King
Lift up your voice and with us sing
O praise Him, alleluia
Thou burning sun with golden beam
Thou silver moon with softer gleam
O praise Him, O praise Him, Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia

Thou rushing wind that art so strong
Ye clouds that sound in heaven along
O praise Him, alleluia
Thou rising moon in praise rejoice
Ye lights of evening find a voice
O praise Him, O praise Him, Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia

Let all things their Creator bless
And worship Him in humbleness
O praise Him, alleluia
Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son
And praise the Spirit, three in One
O praise Him, O praise Him, Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia

Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia

Confession of Sin
Romans 8:5-10

LEADER:  Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
ALL:  To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
LEADER:  For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
ALL:  You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

Silent Prayers

Assurance of God’s Forgiveness
Romans 8:26-39

ALL: …the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died- more than that, who was raised- who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, "For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Your Labor Is Not In Vain
The Porter’s Gate

Your labor is not in vain
Though the ground underneath you is cursed and stained
Your planting and reaping are never the same
Your labor is not in vain

Your labor is not unknown
Though the rocks they cry out and the sea it may groan
The place of your toil may not seem like a home
But your labor is not unknown

CHORUS:
For I am with you, I am with you
I am with you, I am with you
For I have called you, called you by name
Your labor is not in vain

The vineyards you plant will bear fruit
The fields will sing out and rejoice with the truth
For all that is old will at last be made new
The vineyards you plant will bear fruit

The houses you labored to build
Will finally with laughter and joy be filled
The serpent that hurts and destroys will be killed
And all that is broken be healed

Sermon Passage
Ecclesiastes 2:12-26

12 So I turned to consider wisdom and madness and folly. For what can the man do who comes after the king? Only what has already been done.  13 Then I saw that there is more gain in wisdom than in folly, as there is more gain in light than in darkness.  14 The wise person has his eyes in his head, but the fool walks in darkness. And yet I perceived that the same event happens to all of them.  15 Then I said in my heart, "What happens to the fool will happen to me also. Why then have I been so very wise?" And I said in my heart that this also is vanity.  16 For of the wise as of the fool there is no enduring remembrance, seeing that in the days to come all will have been long forgotten. How the wise dies just like the fool!  17 So I hated life, because what is done under the sun was grievous to me, for all is vanity and a striving after wind.
18 I hated all my toil in which I toil under the sun, seeing that I must leave it to the man who will come after me,  19 and who knows whether he will be wise or a fool? Yet he will be master of all for which I toiled and used my wisdom under the sun. This also is vanity.  20 So I turned about and gave my heart up to despair over all the toil of my labors under the sun,  21 because sometimes a person who has toiled with wisdom and knowledge and skill must leave everything to be enjoyed by someone who did not toil for it. This also is vanity and a great evil.  22 What has a man from all the toil and striving of heart with which he toils beneath the sun?  23 For all his days are full of sorrow, and his work is a vexation. Even in the night his heart does not rest. This also is vanity.
24 There is nothing better for a person than that he should eat and drink and find enjoyment in his toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God,  25 for apart from him who can eat or who can have enjoyment?  26 For to the one who pleases him God has given wisdom and knowledge and joy, but to the sinner he has given the business of gathering and collecting, only to give to one who pleases God. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.

LEADER:  The grass withers, the flower fades,
ALL:  but the word of our God will stand forever. (Isaiah 40:8)

Sermon
"Finding Meaning-full… Work"
Pastor Mike McBride

Psalm 16 (Fullness of Joy)
Shane and Shane

Preserve me, O God, for I find rest in You alone
I say to the Lord, "You are my Lord, I have no good apart from You"
All sons and daughters, brothers, sisters, my delight
Let's sing together, ”No other gods shall satisfy,” God, You satisfy

In Your presence there is fullness of joy, joy

You give me counsel, my heart instructs me in the night
You are before me, because You're for me I'm alright, it'll be alright

In Your presence there is fullness of joy, joy
At Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore, forevermore

My heart is glad and my soul rejoice; My flesh it dwells secure
'Cause You put on flesh lived a blameless life, my curse on the cross You bore
Then You ripped the doors off the city of death and the chains fell to the floor
Now the serpent's crushed, it has been finished; You reign forevermore

You are my portion, my cup, and You make my lot secure
The lines have fallen, for me in pleasant places, a beautiful inheritance

The Lord’s Supper
† Receive bread and juice from one of our section hosts near you.  Gluten free wafers are available at the front table.  We will all eat and drink together.

All My Ways Are Known to You
CityAlight

In days of peace and days of rest
In times of loss and loneliness
Though rich or poor, Your word is true
That all my ways are known to You

No trial has come beyond Your hand
No step I walk beyond Your plan
The path is dark outside my view
Still all my ways are known to You

CHORUS:
And oh what peace that I have found wherever I may be
For all my ways are known to You Hallelujah, they are known to You!

I do not fear the final night
For death will be the door to life
You take my hand and lead me through
For all my ways are known to You

Bridge: Open up my eyes so I may see
That You have made these ways for me
Open up my eyes so I may see
That You my God, will walk with me

Benediction
† We invite you to stretch out your hands as you receive the Lord’s blessing.
