The Church’s One Foundation
Hal Hopson, Samuel Stone, Samuel S. Wesley; Arr: Perimeter Worship.

The Church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord
She is His new creation by water and the Word
From Heaven He came and sought her to be His holy bride
With His Own Blood He bought her, and for her life He died

Elect from every nation, yet one o’er all the earth
Her charter of salvation, one Lord, one faith, one birth
One holy name she blesses, partakes one holy food
And to one Hope she presses, with every grace endued

Hallelujah! Our salvation; Jesus Christ is our foundation
Hallelujah! Our salvation; Jesus Christ is our foundation

‘Mid toil and tribulation, and tumult of her war
She waits the consummation of peace forevermore
Till, with the vision glorious, her longing eyes are blest
And the great church victorious shall be the church at rest

Yet she on earth hath union with God the Three in One
And mystic sweet communion with those whose rest is won
O happy ones and holy! Lord give us grace that we
Like them the meek and lowly, on high may dwell with Thee

Call to Worship
Hebrews 12:22-29

Leader:  But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering,
All:  and to the assembly of the firstborn who are enrolled in heaven,
Leader:  and to God, the judge of all,
All:  and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect,
Leader:  and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant,
All:  and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.
Leader:  See that you do not refuse him who is speaking. For if they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, much less will we escape if we reject him who warns from heaven. At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, "Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens." This phrase, "Yet once more," indicates the removal of things that are shaken- that is, things that have been made- in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore…
All:  let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.

All Hail The Power Of Jesusʼ Name
By: Edward Perronet, Oliver Holden;  Arr: Jaron Kamin

All hail the power of Jesusʼ Name   Let angels prostrate fall
Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all
Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all

Ye chosen seed of Israelʼs race, ye ransomed from the fall
Hail Him Who saves you by His grace, and crown Him Lord of all
Hail Him Who saves you by His grace, and crown Him Lord of all

Let every kindred, every tribe on this terrestrial ball
To Him all majesty ascribe and crown Him Lord of all
To Him all majesty ascribe and crown Him Lord of all

O that, with yonder sacred throng, we at His feet may fall
Weʼll join the everlasting song, and crown Him Lord of all
Weʼll join the everlasting song, and crown Him Lord of all

Confession of Sin
1 Peter 2:11-17

Leader:  Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.
All:  Be subject for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good.
Leader:  For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people.
All:  Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.
Leader:  Honor everyone.
All:  Love the brotherhood.
Leader:  Fear God.
All:  Honor the emperor.

Silent Prayers

Assurance of Forgiveness
1 Peter 2:21-25

Leader:  For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. When he was reviled,
All:  he did not revile in return;
Leader:  when he suffered,
All:  he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness.
Leader:  By his wounds you have been healed. For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

Psalm 116 (I Love You, Lord)
By Mission House

I love you, Lord, for You have delivered me
I love you, Lord, for You have delivered…

CHORUS:
My soul from death, my feet from stumbling
I will walk in the land of the living
My soul from death, my feet from stumbling
I will walk in the land of the living

I will bless You, Lord, for You heard my cry
I reached out my hand and You saved my life
I will bless You, Lord, for You heard my plea
And the God of Heaven turned His ear to me

I will bless You, Lord, for unending love
For Your grace and mercy raining down from above
I will bless You, Lord, to the very end
I will call on You as long as I may live

Sermon Passage
1 Peter 1:1-7

1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who are elect exiles of the dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,  2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood:
May grace and peace be multiplied to you.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,  4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,  5 who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.  6 In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, as was necessary, you have been grieved by various trials,  7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith- more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire- may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Leader:  The grass withers, the flower fades...
All:  ...but the word of our God will stand forever. (Isaiah 40:8)

All Praise To Him
Sovereign Grace Music

All praise to Him, the God of light
Who formed the mountains by His might
All praise to Him Who names the stars
That sing His fame in skies afar
All praise to Him Who reigns in love
Who guides the galaxies above
Yet bends to hear our every prayer
With sovereign pow'r and tender care

All praise to Him whose love is seen
In Christ the Son, the Servant King
Who left behind His glorious throne
To pay the ransom for His own
All praise to Him Who humbly came
To bear our sorrow, sin, and shame
Who lived to die, Who died to rise
The all-sufficient sacrifice

All praise to Him whose pow'r imparts
The love of God within our hearts
The Spirit of all truth and peace
The fount of joy and holiness
[To Father, Son, and Spirit now
Our souls we lift, our wills we bow
To You, the triune God, we raise
With loving hearts our song of praise] (Repeat)

The Apostle’s Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and Earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell.*  The third day he rose again from the dead.  He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.  From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church,** the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.  Amen.

* Latin Hades, which means the place of the dead.
** Holy catholic church refers to the church universal

His Mercy Is More
Matt Boswell and Matt Papa

CHORUS:
Praise the Lord, His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness, new every morn
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

What love could remember no wrongs we have done
Omniscient, all knowing, He counts not their sum
Thrown into a sea without bottom or shore
Our sins they are many; His mercy is more

What patience would wait as we constantly roam
What Father so tender is calling us home
He welcomes the weakest, the vilest, the poor
Our sins they are many; His mercy is more

What riches of kindness He lavished on us
His blood was the payment, His life was the cost
We stood 'neath a debt we could never afford
Our sins they are many; His mercy is more

Benediction
† We invite you to stretch out your hands as you receive the Lord’s blessing.
