Call to Worship
John 10:11-16

Leader:  [Jesus said to them,] “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. He who is a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. He flees because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.
All:  I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me,
Leader:  just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice.
All:  So there will be one flock, one shepherd.

Only A Holy God
by Michael Farren, Jonny Robinson, Dustin Smith, Rich Thompson

Who else commands all the hosts of heaven
Who else could make every king bow down
Who else can whisper and darkness trembles
Only a Holy God

What other beauty demands such praises
What other splendour outshines the sun
What other majesty rules with justice
Only a Holy God

CHORUS:
Come and behold Him, the One and the Only
Cry out, sing holy; Forever a Holy God
Come and worship the Holy God
Come and worship the Holy God

What other glory consumes like fire
What other power can raise the dead
What other name remains undefeated
Only a Holy God

Who else could rescue me from my failing
Who else would offer His only Son
Who else invites me to call Him Father
Only a Holy God
Only my Holy God

The Lord’s Prayer
Arrangement: Matt Maher

Father, let Your Kingdom come, Father, let Your will be done
On Earth as in Heaven right here in my heart
Father, let Your Kingdom come, Father, let Your will be done
On Earth as in Heaven right here in my heart

Give us this day, our daily bread; Forgive us, forgive us
As we forgive the ones who sin against us, forgive them
And lead us not into temptation, but deliv - er us from the еvil one
Let Your Kingdom come

It's Yours, it's Yours, all Yours, all Yours
The Kingdom, the power, the glory are Yours
It's Yours, it's Yours, all Yours, all Yours
Forever and ever, the Kingdom is Yours
It's Yours (It's Yours), it's Yours (It's Yours)
All Yours (All Yours), all Yours (All Yours)
The Kingdom (The Kingdom), the power (The power), the glory are Yours
It's Yours (It's Yours), it's Yours (It's Yours)
All Yours (All Yours), all Yours (All Yours)
Forever (Forever) and ever (And ever), the Kingdom is Yours

Confession of Sin
Psalm 32:1-6

Leader:  Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
All:  Blessed is the man against whom the LORD counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. For when I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer.
Leader:  I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD," and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Therefore let everyone who is godly offer prayer to you at a time when you may be found; surely in the rush of great waters, they shall not reach him.

Silent Prayers

Assurance of Forgiveness
Psalm 23
A PSALM OF DAVID.

All:  The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Leader:  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
All:  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Abide With Me
Words by: Henry Francis Lyte (1847); Arrangement: Indelible Grace Music

Abide with me, fast falls the eventide
The darkness deepens, Lord with me abide
When other helpers fail and comforts flee
Help of the helpless, abide with me

Thou on my head in early youth didst smile
And though rebellious and perverse meanwhile
Thou hast not left me, though I oft left Thee
On to the close Lord, abide with me

I need Thy presence, every passing hour
What but Thy grace can foil the tempter's power?
Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, abide with me

I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless
Ills have no weight, tears lose their bitterness
Where is thy sting death? Where grave thy vic - tor - y?
I triumph still, abide with me

Hold Thou Thy cross, before my closing eyes
Shine through the gloom, and point me to the skies
Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee
In life, in death, Lord, abide with me

Sermon Passage
1 Peter 5:1-5

ESV 5:1 So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed:  2 shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly;  3 not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock.  4 And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.  5 Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."

Leader:  All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass.  The grass withers, and the flower falls...
All:  ...but the word of the Lord remains forever.  (1 Peter 1:24-25)

Sermon
"The Church and God’s Shepherds"
Pastor Mike McBride

In Christ Alone
Stewart Townend

In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My comforter, my all in all
Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
Till on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
'Til He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand

The Apostle’s Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and Earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell.*  The third day he rose again from the dead.  He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.  From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church,** the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.  Amen.

* Latin Hades, which means the place of the dead.
** Holy catholic church refers to the church universal

King of Love
Henry Williams Baker. arr. I Am They.

The King of love my Shepherd is whose goodness faileth never
I nothing lack if I am His and He is mine forever, and He is mine forever

Where streams of living water flow my ransomed soul He leadeth
And where the verdant pastures grow with food celestial feedeth

CHORUS:
Never failing ruler of my heart
Everlasting lover of my soul
On the mountain high or in the valley low
The King of love my Shepherd is
The King of love my Shepherd is

Lost and foolish oft I strayed but yet in love He sought me
And on His shoulder gently laid and home, rejoicing, brought me

In death's dark vale I fear no ill with Thee, dear Lord, beside me
Thy rod and staff my comfort still, Thy cross before to guide me

BRIDGE:
Oh——— Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Oh——— Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

And so through all the length of days, Thy goodness faileth never
Good Shepherd, may I sing Your praise within Your house forever.  Within Your house forever

Benediction
† We invite you to stretch out your hands as you receive the Lord’s blessing.
