EASTER SUNDAY

Call to Worship
Luke 24:1-6

Leader:  But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, "Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here,
[He] has risen
All:  He has risen indeed.

Bow before Him, Praise the name of the Lord!
None as holy, none as worthy, now and forevermore

CHORUS 1:
Crowned with adoration, He is high above the nations
Who is like the Lord our God?  Who is like the Lord our God?

Our Lord Jesus wore our weakness
To redeem us, Praise the name of the Lord!
In His kindness He will keep us now and forevermore

CHORUS 2:
Crowned with adoration, He is high above the nations
Who is like the Lord our God?
Raised us from the ashes, He has turned our grief to gladness
Who is like the Lord our God?  Who is like the Lord our God?

High and holy, meek and lowly, There is no one like You
Our Messiah, here beside us, There is no one like You

CHORUS 3:
Crowned with adoration, He is high above the nations
Who is like the Lord our God?
Raised us from the ashes, He has turned our grief to gladness
Who is like the Lord our God?  Who is like the Lord our God?
There is no one like our God!  There is no one like our God!

Psalm 116 (I Love You, Lord)
By Mission House

I love you, Lord, for You have delivered me
I love you, Lord, for You have delivered…

CHORUS:
My soul from death, my feet from stumbling
I will walk in the land of the living
My soul from death, my feet from stumbling
I will walk in the land of the living

BRIDGE:
I will bless You, Lord, for You heard my cry
I reached out my hand and You saved my life
I will bless You, Lord, for You heard my plea
And the God of Heaven turned His ear to me
I will bless You, Lord, for unending love
For Your grace and mercy raining down from above
I will bless You, Lord, to the very end
I will call on You as long as I may live

Confession of Sin
1 John 1:5-9

Leader:  This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
All:  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Silent Prayers of Confession

Assurance of Forgiveness
2 Corinthians 5:17-21

Leader:  Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
All:  All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;
Leader:  that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
All:  Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Pastoral Prayer
Leader:  Question 116 - What is the second petition?
Kids:  The second petition is "Thy kingdom come."
Leader:  Question 117 - What does it mean to pray "Thy kingdom come?"
Kids:  We are asking God to bring more and more people to hear, believe and obey his gospel.

Sermon Passage
John 6:35-49

49 Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.  50 This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die.  51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh."

52 The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?"  53 So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.  54 Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.  55 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.  56 Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.  57 As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me.  58 This is the bread that came down from heaven, not as the fathers ate and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever."  59 Jesus said these things in the synagogue, as he taught at Capernaum.

60 When many of his disciples heard it, they said, "This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?"  61 But Jesus, knowing in himself that his disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, "Do you take offense at this?  62 Then what if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?  63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is of no avail. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.  64 But there are some of you who do not believe." (For Jesus knew from the beginning who those were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray him.)  65 And he said, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father."

66 After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him.  67 So Jesus said to the Twelve, "Do you want to go away as well?"  68 Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life,  69 and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God."  70 Jesus answered them, "Did I not choose you, the Twelve? And yet one of you is a devil."  71 He spoke of Judas the son of Simon Iscariot, for he, one of the Twelve, was going to betray him.

Leader:  The grass withers, the flower fades...
All:  ...but the word of our God will stand forever. (Isaiah 40:8)

Sermon
"To Whom Shall We Go?"
Pastor Mike McBride

And Can It Be
Charles Wesley (1738)

And can it be that I should gain
An int'rest in the Savior's blood?
Died He for me, who caused His pain?
For me, who Him to death pursued?
Amazing love! how can it be
That Thou, my God, should die for me?

REFRAIN:
Amazing love! how can it be
That Thou, my God, should die for me!

He left His Father's throne above,
So free, so infinite His grace;
Emptied Himself of all but love,
And bled for Adam's helpless race;
'Tis mercy all, immense and free;
For, O my God, it found out me.  [Refrain]

Long my imprisoned spirit lay
Fast bound in sin and nature's night;
Thine eye diffused a quick'ning ray,
I woke, the dungeon flamed with light;
My chains fell off, my heart was free;
I rose, went forth and followed Thee.  [Refrain]

No condemnation now I dread;
Jesus, and all in Him is mine!
Alive in Him, my living Head,
And clothed in righteousness divine,
Bold I approach th'eternal throne,
And claim the crown, through Christ my own.  [Refrain]

Let The Nations Be Glad
By Matt Boswell, Aaron Boswell, Matt Papa.

Let the glory of the Lord forever be our joy
May redemption be the theme of our song
For by grace we have been saved and by grace we shall proclaim
To the corners of the earth that Christ has come

CHORUS:
Let the nations be glad; Let the people rejoice
For salvation belongs to our God
Let the whole earth be filled with the praises of the Lord
For salvation belongs to our God; Let the nations be glad

Through the ages gone before; through the trial and the sword
Many saints and martyrs conquered though they died
Still we're holding out the cross, crossing oceans, suffering loss
Shall endure all things to win the crown of life (Chorus)

As Your holy church goes forth in the Holy Spirit's power
With the glories of the gospel to explain
Now we pray Your kingdom come, and we pray Your will be done
For the honor and the glory of Your Name (Chorus)

Benediction
† We invite you to stretch out your hands as you receive the Lord’s blessing.
