Call to Worship
Psalm 46:1-11

Leader:  God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
All:  Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.
Leader:  There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.
All:  God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
Leader:  Come, behold the works of the LORD, how he has brought desolations on the earth.
All:  He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire.
Leader:  "Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!"
All:  The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Prayer of Adoration

Come Behold (Psalm 46)
Thief to King

CHORUS:
Come behold the wondrous works
Of the Lord Who reigns on high
Oh, be still and know that He is God
Our fortress He will be

God is our refuge and our strength, a very present aid
Therefore, although the earth gives way we will not be afraid
Though mountains move into the sea, though waters rage and foam
Although the hills may quake and fall, our hope is in the Lord (Chorus)

The nations rage and kingdoms move, their plotting is in vain
They all shall tremble at the voice of God above who reigns
Great desolation to the earth, He turns the wars to peace
He breaks the bow and shatters spear, all chariots to cease (Chorus)

All the glory to His name
O exalted He shall be
O be still and know that He is God
Our fortress He will be
Our fortress He will be
Our fortress He will be

To God Be the Glory
Fanny Crosby (1875)

To God be the glory, great things He hath done,
so loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
and opened the life-gate that all may go in.

REFRAIN:
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father through Jesus the Son,
and give Him the glory, great things He hath done.

O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
to ev'ry believer the promise of God;
the vilest offender who truly believes,
that moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done,
and great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
but purer, and higher, and greater will be
our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

Confession of Sin
Isaiah 52:3-5
Leader:  For thus says the LORD: "You were sold for nothing, and you shall be redeemed without money." For thus says the Lord GOD: "My people went down at the first into Egypt to sojourn there, and the Assyrian oppressed them for nothing. Now therefore what have I here," declares the LORD, "seeing that my people are taken away for nothing?
All:  Their rulers wail," declares the LORD, "and continually all the day my name is despised.

Our Confession
† Silent Prayer of Confession

Assurance of Forgiveness
Isaiah 52:6-10

Leader:  Therefore my people shall know my name.
All:  Therefore in that day they shall know that it is I who speak; here am I."
Leader:  How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news,
All:  who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, "Your God reigns."
Leader:  The voice of your watchmen- they lift up their voice; together they sing for joy;
All:  for eye to eye they see the return of the LORD to Zion.
Leader:  Break forth together into singing, you waste places of Jerusalem, for the LORD has comforted his people; he has redeemed Jerusalem.
All:  The LORD has bared his holy arm before the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence
Paraphraser: Gerard Moultrie (1864).

Let all mortal flesh keep silence
and with fear and trembling stand;
ponder nothing earthly-minded,
for with blessing in his hand
Christ, our God, to earth descending,
comes our homage to command.

King of kings, yet born of Mary,
as of old on earth he stood,
Lord of lords in human likeness,
in the body and the blood
he will give to all the faithful
his own self for heav’nly food.

Rank on rank the host of heaven
spreads its vanguard on the way
as the Light from Light, descending
from the realms of endless day,
comes the pow’rs of hell to vanquish
as the darkness clears away.

At his feet the six-winged seraph,
cherubim with sleepless eye,
veil their faces to the presence
as with ceaseless voice they cry:
“Alleluia, alleluia!
Alleluia, Lord Most High!”

Sermon Passage
John 11:28-37

28 When she had said this, she went and called her sister Mary, saying in private, "The Teacher is here and is calling for you."  29 And when she heard it, she rose quickly and went to him.  30 Now Jesus had not yet come into the village, but was still in the place where Martha had met him.  31 When the Jews who were with her in the house, consoling her, saw Mary rise quickly and go out, they followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to weep there.  32 Now when Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet, saying to him, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died."  33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled.  34 And he said, "Where have you laid him?" They said to him, "Lord, come and see."  35 Jesus wept.  36 So the Jews said, "See how he loved him!"  37 But some of them said, "Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man also have kept this man from dying?”

Leader:  The grass withers, the flower fades,
All:  ...but the word of our God will stand forever. (Isaiah 40:8)

I Know That My Redeemer Lives
By: Matt Boswell and Matt Papa

I know that my Redeemer lives
What hope this sweet assurance gives
That He who gave His life for me
Arose with healing in His wings
He lives, the tomb is empty still
Redemption's promise He fulfilled
No condemnation now re  -  mains
The stone of death is rolled away

CHORUS:
My Redeemer lives
My Redeemer lives
On heaven's throne and in my very soul
I know that my Redeemer lives

I know that my Redeemer lives
And all my life is bound to His
In realms above He in - ter - cedes
Our sinless Savior, perfect Priest
No fear can follow where He guides
His constant presence is my light
No power on earth or heav'n a  -  bove
Can separate us from His love

I know that my Redeemer lives
In life and death I trust in Him
My soul secure, my future safe
He'll not forsake me to the grave
He lives and He will not delay
My eyes will wake to brightest day
And in my flesh I'll see  Him  stand
When Christ in glory comes again
And every eye will see Him  stand
When Christ in glory comes again (Chorus)

The Love Of The Father
CityAlight

Lift up your voices and lift up your praise
Join with the heavens declaring the wonders
Of His faithfulness forever
Sing of the victory, the hope of the world
The Savior has risen, the Spirit has come to
Bring us into love forever

CHORUS:
Oh, we are the people of God
With the freedom of hope in our hearts
How great is the love of the Father

Lifted from darkness and into the light
The sons and the daughters are loved at a price
Our God has made us His forever

BRIDGE:
This is the song of the redeemed, the ransomed and the free
Given life at such a price; this is love, this is love
And when the Father calls us home and we see Him on the throne
Hear the voices sing as one, “This is love, this is love”

Benediction
† We invite you to stretch out your hands as you receive the Lord’s blessing.
