Call to Worship
Psalm 66:5-7

Leader:  Come and see what God has done: he is awesome in his deeds toward the children of man. He turned the sea into dry land; they passed through the river on foot. There did we rejoice in him, who rules by his might forever, whose eyes keep watch on the nations--let not the rebellious exalt themselves.

Prayer of Adoration and Invocation

The Lord's Become Our Salvation (Psalm 118)
by Wendell Kimbrough

Out of my distress I called out for help
And the Lord came quickly to save me
Praise our God most high, He is on my side
For the Lord's become my salvation

Open up the gate where the righteous wait
To behold the face of their Savior
I am welcomed in by my Lord and friend
For the Lord's become my salvation

CHORUS:
Oh, give thanks to the Lord
For His never-ending love
We will celebrate what He's done this day
For the Lord's become our salvation
For the Lord's become our salvation

Now the stone ignored by the strong and proud
Has become the Church's foundation
Let the weak give praise for this gift of grace
For the Lord's become our salvation

A Mighty Fortress
Words: Martin Luther, Music: Traditional German Tune

A mighty fortress is our God, A bulwark never failing
Our helper He, amid the flood, Of mortal ills prevailing
For still our ancient foe, Doth seek to work us woe
His craft and power are great, And armed with cruel hate
On earth is not his equal

Did we in our own strength confide, Our striving would be losing
Were not the right Man on our side, The Man of God's own choosing
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus; it is He
Lord Sabbaoth, His name, From age to age the same
And He must win the battle

And though this world, with devils filled, Should threaten to undo us
We will not fear, for God hath willed, His truth to triumph through us
The Prince of Darkness grim, We tremble not for him
His rage we can endure, For lo, his doom is sure
One little word shall fell him

That word above all earthly powers, No thanks to them, abideth
The Spirit and the gifts are ours, Through Him who with us sideth
Let goods and kindred go, This mortal life also
The body they may kill, God’s truth abideth still
His kingdom is forever

Confession of Sin
1 John 1:6-10

Leader:  If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
All:  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
Leader:  If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
All:  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

† Silent Prayer of Confession

Assurance of Forgiveness
1 John 2:1-2

Leader:  My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
All:  He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.

O Great God
Sovereign Grace Music; adapted from Valley of Vision

O great God of highest heav'n, occupy my lowly heart
Own it all and reign supreme conquer every rebel power
Let no vice or sin remain that resists Your holy war
You have loved and purchased me make me Yours forevermore

I was blinded by my sin, had no ears to hear Your voice
Did not know Your love within, had no taste for heaven's joys
Then Your Spirit gave me life, opened up Your Word to me
Through the gospel of Your Son gave me endless hope and peace

Help me now to live a life that's dependent on Your grace
Keep my heart and guard my soul from the evils that I face
You are worthy to be praised with my every thought and deed
O great God of highest heaven glorify Your Name through me

You are worthy to be praised with my every thought and deed
O great God of highest heaven glorify Your Name through me

Sermon Passage
Exodus 14:1-31

1 Then the LORD said to Moses,  2 "Tell the people of Israel to turn back and encamp in front of Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, in front of Baal-zephon; you shall encamp facing it, by the sea.  3 For Pharaoh will say of the people of Israel, 'They are wandering in the land; the wilderness has shut them in.'  4 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, and the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD." And they did so.
5 When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, the mind of Pharaoh and his servants was changed toward the people, and they said, "What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?"  6 So he made ready his chariot and took his army with him,  7 and took six hundred chosen chariots and all the other chariots of Egypt with officers over all of them.  8 And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the people of Israel while the people of Israel were going out defiantly.  9 The Egyptians pursued them, all Pharaoh's horses and chariots and his horsemen and his army, and overtook them encamped at the sea, by Pihahiroth, in front of Baal-zephon.
10 When Pharaoh drew near, the people of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they feared greatly. And the people of Israel cried out to the LORD.  11 They said to Moses, "Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the wilderness? What have you done to us in bringing us out of Egypt?  12 Is not this what we said to you in Egypt, 'Leave us alone that we may serve the Egyptians'? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness."  13 And Moses said to the people, "Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again.  14 The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent."
15 The LORD said to Moses, "Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to go forward.  16 Lift up your staff, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it, that the people of Israel may go through the sea on dry ground.  17 And I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they shall go in after them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, his chariots, and his horsemen.
18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten glory over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen."  19 Then the angel of God who was going before the host of Israel moved and went behind them, and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them,  20 coming between the host of Egypt and the host of Israel. And there was the cloud and the darkness. And it lit up the night without one coming near the other all night.
21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the LORD drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.  22 And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.  23 The Egyptians pursued and went in after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.  24 And in the morning watch the LORD in the pillar of fire and of cloud looked down on the Egyptian forces and threw the Egyptian forces into a panic,  25 clogging their chariot wheels so that they drove heavily. And the Egyptians said, "Let us flee from before Israel, for the LORD fights for them against the Egyptians."
26 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the water may come back upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen."  27 So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its normal course when the morning appeared. And as the Egyptians fled into it, the LORD threw the Egyptians into the midst of the sea.  28 The waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen; of all the host of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea, not one of them remained.  29 But the people of Israel walked on dry ground through the sea, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.  31 Israel saw the great power that the LORD used against the Egyptians, so the people feared the LORD, and they believed in the LORD and in his servant Moses.

Confession of Faith
Psalm 77:11-15

Leader:  I will remember the deeds of the LORD;
All:  yes, I will remember your wonders of old.
Leader:  I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds.
All:  Your way, O God, is holy. What god is great like our God?
Leader:  You are the God who works wonders;
All:  you have made known your might among the peoples. You with your arm redeemed your people, the children of Jacob and Joseph.
Leader:  When the waters saw you, O God, when the waters saw you, they were afraid; indeed, the deep trembled.
All:  The clouds poured out water;  the skies gave forth thunder;  your arrows flashed on every side.  The crash of your thunder was in the whirlwind; your lightnings lighted up the world; the earth trembled and shook.
Leader:  Your way was through the sea, your path through the great waters; yet your footprints were unseen.
All:  You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

God is For Us

We won't fear the battle, we won’t fear the night
We will walk the valley with You by our side
You will go before us, You will lead the way
We have found a refuge, only You can save

Sing with joy now: our God is for us
The Father's love is a strong and mighty fortress
Raise your voice now, no love is greater
Who can stand against us if our God is for us

Even when I stumble, even when I fall
Even when I turn back, still Your love is sure
You will not abandon, You will not forsake
You will cheer me onward with never-ending grace (Chorus)

BRIDGE:
Neither height nor depth can separate us
Hell and death will not defeat us

Holds me in His love (Chorus)

Let The Nations Be Glad
By Matt Boswell, Aaron Boswell, Matt Papa.

Let the glory of the Lord forever be our joy
May redemption be the theme of our song
For by grace we have been saved and by grace we shall proclaim
To the corners of the earth that Christ has come

CHORUS:
Let the nations be glad; Let the people rejoice
For salvation belongs to our God
Let the whole earth be filled with the praises of the Lord
For salvation belongs to our God; Let the nations be glad

Through the ages gone before; through the trial and the sword
Many saints and martyrs conquered though they died
Still we're holding out the cross, crossing oceans, suffering loss
Shall endure all things to win the crown of life (Chorus)

As Your holy church goes forth in the Holy Spirit's power
With the glories of the gospel to explain
Now we pray Your kingdom come, and we pray Your will be done
For the honor and the glory of Your Name (Chorus)

Benediction
† We invite you to stretch out your hands as you receive the Lord’s blessing.
