The Second and Third Missionary Journeys of Paul

Session One - Introduction to Acts

This week, we are introduced to the book of Acts, it's author, and it's primary purpose of giving us certainty about the things God has promised us and fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

Session Two - Philippi

Teachers:  Mike McBride and Rachael Reese
As Paul begins his second missionary journey, the Lord directs him and his group to Philippi.  Their experience is not ideal, and yet the Lord uses their time in the city to start a new church.

Session Three - Thessalonica and Berea

Paul and his crew enter the capital city of Macedonia and its neighboring city to find that the gospel brings mixed responses and further persecution.

Session Four - Athens

Teacher:  Chris McLaughlin
Paul travels alone to Athens, only to find himself angry and frustrated over the idolatry in the city.  His sermon to the Athenians addresses their idolatry by focusing on God's aseity.

Session Five - Corinth

Teachers:  Devin Templeton and Jess Schoolcraft
As Paul concludes his second missionary journey, he spends 18 months in the city of Corinth seeing God's faithfulness to him.

Session Six - Ephesus (Part 1)

Teacher:  Chris McLaughlin
Before Paul arrives in Ephesus, a missionary named Apollos arrives and receives correction from Pricilla and Aquila.  Later, Paul arrives and corrects some disciples.  But in the end, the gospel reaches all of Asia.

Session Seven - Ephesus (Part 2)

Teachers:  Mike McBride and Jess Schoolcraft
The gospel upsets the balance of power in Ephesus and throws the entire city into an uproar.  Still, the Lord continues to advance the gospel and protects Paul and the church.

Session Eight - Greece and Macedonia

As Paul begins to end his third missionary journey, he starts to travel back to Jerusalem for Pentecost and visits the believers along the way.

Session Nine - The Road To Jerusalem

Teacher:  Chris McLaughlin
Paul concludes his third missionary journey by traveling back to Jerusalem and visiting the believers along the way.  Knowing that suffering awaits him, Paul is faced with a choice.

Session Ten - Concluding Discussion

Since our study was focused on Acts 16-21, we step back and look at how these chapters fit into the larger context of Acts and in the larger context of what God is doing throughout scripture.
