Call to Worship
1 Corinthians 3:6-9

Leader:  I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor.

All:  For we are God's fellow workers. You are God's field, God's building.

Prayer of Adoration

Holy, Holy, Holy
Words: Reginald Heber, 1826. Music: Nicaea, John B. Dykes, 1861. Public Domain

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee.
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore Thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Who wert and art and ever more shall be.

Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide Thee,
Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see;
Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee,
Perfect in power, in love, and purity.

Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy name in earth, and sky, and sea;
Holy, holy, holy; merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!

O How Good to Be Together
Written by Paul Ranheim & Kirk Sauers ©2020 Mellow Toad Music (BMI), Bold Canary Music (BMI).

Oh how good to be together
In this weary world we trod
What a gift, what a treasure
Kindred in the house of God

On this day the Lord has fashioned
Come rejoice with all your might
Raise a banner of salvation
He has led us through the night

CHORUS
Oh the joy, oh the sweetness
To be gathered in the name of the Lord
Evermore, he will keep us
From the valley to the golden shore
When it looked like evil conquered
When we felt the darkest hour
In despair we sought the Father
And he has proved his mighty power   CHORUS

Tell the theme of his provision
How he met our every need
He has been our firm foundation
And he will ever, always be   CHORUS

Confession of Our Sin
James 3:12-18

Can a fig tree, my brothers, bear olives, or a grapevine produce figs? Neither can a salt pond yield fresh water. Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

Prayer of Confession followed by Silent Prayers

God’s Assurance of Forgiveness
Ephesians 2:4-9, Psalm 103:12

Leader:  But God,

All:  being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ-

Leader:  by grace you have been saved-

All:  and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

Leader:  For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

All:  As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be your name.  Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.  Amen.

His Mercy is More

CHORUS
Praise the Lord
His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness
New every morn’
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

What love could remember, no wrongs we have done
Omniscient, all-knowing, He counts not their sum
Thrown into a sea without bottom or shore
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

What patience would wait as we constantly roam
What Father so tender is calling us home
He welcomes the weakest, the vilest, the poor
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

What riches of kindness He lavished on us
His blood was the payment His life was the cost
We stood ‘neath a debt we could never afford
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

Sermon Passage
Ephesians 3:14 - 4:6

3:14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,  15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,  16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being,  17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith- that you, being rooted and grounded in love,  18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,  19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.  20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,  21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

4:1 I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called,  2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,  3 eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.  4 There is one body and one Spirit- just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call-  5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism,  6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Pastor:  The grass withers, the flower fades...
All:  ...but the word of our God will stand forever.

The Church’s One Foundation
Words by Samuel Stone, 1866. Music by Brian Moss, ©1996 Parson John Publishing (ASCAP).

The Church’s one foundation, Is Jesus Christ her Lord,
She is His new creation, By water and the Word :
From Heaven He came and sought her, To be His holy Bride,
With His Own Blood He bought her, And for her life He died.

Elect from every nation, Yet one o’er all the earth,
Her charter of salvation, One Lord, one Faith, one Birth,
One Holy Name she blesses, Partakes one Holy Food,
And to one Hope she presses, With every grace endued.

‘Mid toil and tribulation, And tumult of her war,
She waits the consummation, Of peace for evermore ;
Till with the vision glorious, Her longing eyes are blest,
And the great Church victorious, Shall be the Church at rest!

Yet she on earth hath union, With God the Three in One,
And mystic sweet communion, With those whose rest is won;
O happy ones and holy, Lord give us grace that we
Like them the meek and lowly, On high may dwell with Thee.

Benediction
