Call to Worship
from Psalm 19

Leader:  The heavens declare the glory of God

All:  and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
Their voice… goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.

Leader:  The law of the LORD is perfect,

All:  reviving the soul;
the testimony of the LORD is sure,
making wise the simple;
the precepts of the LORD are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the LORD is pure,
enlightening the eyes…
More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold

How Great Thou Art
1885 Carl Boberg. 1949 Stuart K. Hine. 2018 Shand and Shane.

Oh Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed

Chorus:
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art, how great Thou art

And when I think that God, His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing
He bled and died to take away my sin

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration
And then proclaim, my God, how great Thou art

O How Good to Be Together
Written by Paul Ranheim & Kirk Sauers ©2020 Mellow Toad Music (BMI), Bold Canary Music (BMI).

Oh how good to be together
In this weary world we trod
What a gift, what a treasure
Kindred in the house of God

On this day the Lord has fashioned
Come rejoice with all your might
Raise a banner of salvation
He has led us through the night

CHORUS
Oh the joy, oh the sweetness
To be gathered in the name of the Lord
Evermore, he will keep us
From the valley to the golden shore

When it looked like evil conquered
When we felt the darkest hour
In despair we sought the Father
And he has proved his mighty power   CHORUS

Tell the theme of his provision
How he met our every need
He has been our firm foundation
And he will ever, always be   CHORUS

Confession of Our Sin and Assurance of God’s Forgiveness
Matthew 5:17-18, 6:20-21, 25-26, 7:7-11, 24-25

Leader:  "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.  For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal,

All:  but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.  [Pray]

Leader:  "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?

All:  Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

Leader:  "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

All:  which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! [Pray]

Leader:  "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.

All I Have is Christ
Sovereign Grace Music

I once was lost in darkest night, yet thought I knew the way
The sin that promised joy and life had led me to the grave
I had no hope that You would own a rebel to Your will
And if You had not loved me first I would refuse You still

But as I ran my hell-bound race indifferent to the cost
You looked upon my helpless state and led me to the cross
And I beheld God's love displayed You suffered in my place
You bore the wrath reserved for me now all I know is grace

Chorus:
Hallelujah! All I have is Christ
Hallelujah! Jesus is my life
Hallelujah! All I have is Christ
Hallelujah! Jesus is my life

Now, Lord, I would be Yours alone and live so all might see
The strength to follow Your commands could never come from me
Oh Father, use my ransomed life in any way You choose
And let my song forever be; my only boast is You

Sermon Passage:  Luke 8:4-15

4 And when a great crowd was gathering and people from town after town came to him, he said in a parable:  5 "A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell along the path and was trampled underfoot, and the birds of the air devoured it.  6 And some fell on the rock, and as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture.  7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up with it and choked it.  8 And some fell into good soil and grew and yielded a hundredfold." As he said these things, he called out, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear."  9 And when his disciples asked him what this parable meant,  10 he said, "To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God, but for others they are in parables, so that 'seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.'  11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.  12 The ones along the path are those who have heard. Then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.  13 And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy. But these have no root; they believe for a while, and in time of testing fall away.  14 And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature.  15 As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience.

Pastor:  The grass withers and the flower fades,
All:  but the word of our God will stand forever. (Isaiah 40:8)

God is For Us
By CityAlight

We won't fear the battle, we won’t fear the night
We will walk the valley with You by our side
You will go before us, You will lead the way
We have found a refuge, only You can save

[Chorus]
Sing with joy now: our God is for us
The Father's love is a strong and mighty fortress
Raise your voice now, no love is greater
Who can stand against us if our God is for us

Even when I stumble, even when I fall
Even when I turn back, still Your love is sure
You will not abandon, You will not forsake
You will cheer me onward with never-ending grace [Chorus]

[Bridge]
Neither height nor depth can separate us
Hell and death will not defeat us
He who gave His son to free us
Holds me in His love
Neither height nor depth can separate us
Hell and death will not defeat us
He who gave His son to free us
Holds me in His love [Chorus]

Benediction
