Call to Worship
Psalm 107:1,4-6,10-13,17-19,23-28

Leader:  Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!
Some wandered in desert wastes, finding no way to a city to dwell in; hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them.

All:  Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.

Leader:  Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, prisoners in affliction and in irons, for they had rebelled against the words of God, and spurned the counsel of the Most High. So he bowed their hearts down with hard labor; they fell down, with none to help.

All:  Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.

Leader:  Some were fools through their sinful ways, and because of their iniquities suffered affliction; they loathed any kind of food, and they drew near to the gates of death.

All:  Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.

Leader:  Some went down to the sea in ships, doing business on the great waters; they saw the deeds of the LORD, his wondrous works in the deep. For he commanded and raised the stormy wind, which lifted up the waves of the sea. They mounted up to heaven; they went down to the depths; their courage melted away in their evil plight; they reeled and staggered like drunken men and were at their wits' end.

All:  Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.

King of Love
Henry Williams Baker. arr. I Am They.

The King of love my Shepherd is whose goodness faileth never
I nothing lack if I am His and He is mine forever, and He is mine forever

Where streams of living water flow my ransomed soul He leadeth
And where the verdant pastures grow with food celestial feedeth

Chorus: Never failing ruler of my heart
Everlasting lover of my soul
On the mountain high or in the valley low
The King of love my Shepherd is
The King of love my Shepherd is

Lost and foolish oft I strayed but yet in love He sought me
And on His shoulder gently laid and home, rejoicing, brought me

In death's dark vale I fear no ill with Thee, dear Lord, beside me
Thy rod and staff my comfort still, Thy cross before to guide me

BRIDGE: Oh——— Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Oh——— Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

And so through all the length of days, Thy goodness faileth never
Good Shepherd, may I sing Your praise within Your house forever.  Within Your house forever

In Tenderness
By W. Spencer Walton (1894); Arr. by Citizens

In tenderness He sought me; weary and sick with sin
And on His shoulders brought me back to His fold again
While angels in His presence sang; until the courts of heaven rang

Chorus: Oh oh oh, the love that sought me!
Oh oh oh, the blood that bought me!
Oh, the grace that brought me to the fold of God
Grace that brought me to the fold of God

He died for me while I was sinning needy and poor and blind
He whispered to assure me, ”I've found thee; thou art Mine"
I never heard a sweeter voice; it made my aching heart rejoice

Upon His grace I'll ponder and sing anew His praise
With all adoring wonder His blessings I retrace
It seems as if eternal days are far too short to sing His praise

Prayer of Confession
Matthew 6:6-15

Leader:  But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. "And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Pray then like this:

All:  "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Leader:  For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Silent Prayers

God’s Assurance of Forgiveness
Ephesians 2:4-9, Psalm 103:12

Leader:  But God...

All:  ...being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ-

Leader:  by grace you have been saved-

All:  and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

Leader:  For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

All:  As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

All Sufficient Merit
By Bethany Bernard

All sufficient merit shining like the sun
A fortune I inherit by no work I have done
My righteousness I forfeit at my Savior's cross
Where all sufficient merit did what I could not

In love He condescended eternal now in time
A life without a blemish the Maker made to die
The law could never save us, our lawlessness had won
Until the pure and spotless Lamb had finally come

Chorus:It is done, it is finished, no more debt I owe
Paid in full, all sufficient merit now my own

I lay down my garments, any empty boasts
Good works all corrupted by the sinful host
Dressed in my Lord Jesus, a crimson robe made white
No more fear of judgement, His righteousness is mine

Bridge:  It's now my own

All sufficient merit, firm in life and death
The joy of my salvation shall be my final breath
And when I stand accepted before the throne of God
I'll gaze upon my Jesus and thank Him for the cross
Yes I'll thank You for the cross

Sermon Passage
2 Corinthians 2:5-11

5 Now if anyone has caused pain, he has caused it not to me, but in some measure- not to put it too severely- to all of you.  6 For such a one, this punishment by the majority is enough,  7 so you should rather turn to forgive and comfort him, or he may be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow.  8 So I beg you to reaffirm your love for him.  9 For this is why I wrote, that I might test you and know whether you are obedient in everything.  10 Anyone whom you forgive, I also forgive. What I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for your sake in the presence of Christ,  11 so that we would not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs.

Pastor:  The grass withers and the flower fades...
All:  ...but the word of our God will stand forever. (Isaiah 40:8)

"The Power of Forgiveness and Shame"
Pastor Mike McBride

His Mercy is More
ASCAP Publisher Number: 160234 // ASCAP Writer Number:  1721724 (Matt Papa).

Chorus:
Praise the Lord.  His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness.  New every morn’
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

What love could remember, no wrongs we have done
Omniscient, all-knowing, He counts not their sum
Thrown into a sea without bottom or shore
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

What patience would wait as we constantly roam
What Father so tender is calling us home
He welcomes the weakest, the vilest, the poor
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

What riches of kindness He lavished on us
His blood was the payment His life was the cost
We stood ‘neath a debt we could never afford
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

Behold the Lamb of God
Andrew Peterson, 2004

We who walk in darkness deep
Now see the light of morning
The Mighty God, the Prince of Peace
A child to us is born

Chorus: Behold, the Lamb of God
Who takes away our sin
Behold, the Lamb of God
The life and light of men
Behold, the Lamb of God
Who died and rose again
Behold the Lamb of God who comes
To take away our sin

Wanderers in the wilderness
O hear a voice is crying
Prepare the way, make straight the path
Your King has come to die

Bridge: Son of God (Emmanuel)
Son of Man (We praise You)
Behold (Behold) the Lamb
The hope (the hope) of man
Behold the Lamb

God is For Us
By CityAlight

We won't fear the battle, we won’t fear the night
We will walk the valley with You by our side
You will go before us, You will lead the way
We have found a refuge, only You can save

[Chorus]
Sing with joy now: our God is for us
The Father's love is a strong and mighty fortress
Raise your voice now, no love is greater
Who can stand against us if our God is for us

Even when I stumble, even when I fall
Even when I turn back, still Your love is sure
You will not abandon, You will not forsake
You will cheer me onward with never-ending grace [Chorus]

[Bridge]
Neither height nor depth can separate us
Hell and death will not defeat us
He who gave His son to free us
Holds me in His love
Neither height nor depth can separate us
Hell and death will not defeat us
He who gave His son to free us
Holds me in His love [Chorus]

Benediction
† We invite you to stretch out your hands as you receive the Lord’s blessing.
