Crown Him With Many Crowns
Lyrics: Matthew Bridges, 1851

Crown Him with many crowns, the Lamb upon His throne
Hark! How the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own; all music but its own
Awake, my soul and sing of Him who died for thee
And hail Him as thy matchless King through all eternity; through all eternity

CHORUS:
Crown Him (Crown Him); Crown Him (Crown Him)
Crown Him (Crown Him); Crown Him with many crowns

Crown Him the Lord of life who triumphed o'er the grave
Who rose victorious to the strife for those He came to save; for those He came to save
His glories now we sing who died and rose on high
Who died eternal life to bring and lives that death may die; He lives that death may die

Crown Him the Lord of love, behold His hands and side
Rich wounds, yet visible above, in beauty glorified; in beauty glorified
All hail, Redeemer, hail! For Thou hast died for me
Thy praise and glory shall not fail through all eternity; though all eternity

BRIDGE:
He is exalted, the King is exalted on high
He is exalted, forever exalted on high, and I will praise Him
He is exalted, the King is exalted on high
He is exalted, forever exalted on high, with many crowns

Call to Worship
Psalm 19
† Fields Kids memorized the first part of Psalm 19 on Wednesday nights.

Leader:  The heavens declare the glory of God

Kids:  and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.

Leader:  Day to day pours out speech,

Kids:  and night to night reveals knowledge.

All:  Their voice… goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.

Leader:  The law of the LORD is perfect,

Adults:  reviving the soul;

Leader:  the testimony of the LORD is sure,

Adults:  making wise the simple;

All:  the precepts of the LORD are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the LORD is pure,
enlightening the eyes…

In Tenderness
By W. Spencer Walton (1894); Arr. by Citizens

In tenderness He sought me; weary and sick with sin
And on His shoulders brought me back to His fold again
While angels in His presence sang; until the courts of heaven rang

CHORUS:
Oh oh oh, the love that sought me!
Oh oh oh, the blood that bought me!
Oh, the grace that brought me to the fold of God
Grace that brought me to the fold of God

He died for me while I was sinning needy and poor and blind
He whispered to assure me, ”I've found thee; thou art Mine"
I never heard a sweeter voice; it made my aching heart rejoice

Upon His grace I'll ponder and sing anew His praise
With all adoring wonder His blessings I retrace
It seems as if eternal days are far too short to sing His praise

Prayer of Confession
Galatians 5:13-23

Leader:  For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

All:  For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

Leader:  But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another.

All:  But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

Leader:  Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

All:  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Silent Prayers

God’s Assurance of Forgiveness
1 John 4:10-16

Leader:  In this is love,

All:  not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Leader:  Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.

All:  By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.

Leader:  Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.

All:  So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

Nearer My God To Thee
Text: Sarah F. Adams, 1841; Music: Lowell Mason, 1856

Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee!
E'en though it be a cross that raiseth me
Still all my song shall be; Nearer, my God, to Thee
Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee!

Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down
Darkness be over me, my rest a stone
Yet in my prayers I'll be; Nearer, my God, to Thee
Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee!

Then, with my waking thoughts bright with Thy praise
Out of my stony griefs, my song I'll raise
So by my woes to be; Nearer, my God, to Thee
Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee!

Or if on joyful wing, breaking the sky
Sun, moon, and stars forgot, upward I fly
Still all my song shall be; Nearer, my God, to Thee
Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee!

Sermon Passage
Romans 14:1-3, 13-23, 15:1-3

ESV Romans 14:1 As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions.  2 One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables.  3 Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him.
13 Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother.  14 I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself, but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean.  15 For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. By what you eat, do not destroy the one for whom Christ died.  16 So do not let what you regard as good be spoken of as evil.  17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.  18 Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men.  19 So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.  20 Do not, for the sake of food, destroy the work of God. Everything is indeed clean, but it is wrong for anyone to make another stumble by what he eats.  21 It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble.  22 The faith that you have, keep between yourself and God. Blessed is the one who has no reason to pass judgment on himself for what he approves.  23 But whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats, because the eating is not from faith. For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin.
15:1 We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.  2 Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.  3 For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written, "The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on me."

Pastor:  The grass withers and the flower fades...
All:  ...but the word of our God will stand forever. (Isaiah 40:8)

I Will Follow
By Jon Guerra and Vertical Worship

When the sea is calm and all is right
When I feel Your favor flood my life
Even in the good, I'll follow You
Even in the good, I'll follow You

When the boat is tossed upon the waves
When I wonder if You'll keep me safe
Even in the storms, I'll follow You
Even in the storms, I'll follow You

CHORUS:
I believe everything that You say You are
I believe and I have seen Your unchanging heart
In the good things and in the hardest part
I believe and I will follow You
I believe and I will follow You

When I see the wicked prospering
When I feel I have no voice to sing
Even in the want, I'll follow You
Yes, even in the want, I'll follow You

When I find myself so far from home
And You lead me somewhere I don't wanna go
Even in my death, I'll follow You
Even in my death, I'll follow You

When I come to end this race I've run
And I receive the prize that Christ has won
Yes, I will be with You in paradise
Oh, I will be with You in paradise

All My Ways Are Known to You
CityAlight

In days of peace and days of rest
In times of loss and loneliness
Though rich or poor, Your word is true
That all my ways are known to You

No trial has come beyond Your hand
No step I walk beyond Your plan
The path is dark outside my view
Still all my ways are known to You

CHORUS:
And oh what peace that I have found wherever I may be
For all my ways are known to You Hallelujah, they are known to You!

I do not fear the final night
For death will be the door to life
You take my hand and lead me through
For all my ways are known to You

BRIDGE:
Open up my eyes so I may see
That You have made these ways for me
Open up my eyes so I may see
That You my God, will walk with me

Benediction
† We invite you to stretch out your hands as you receive the Lord’s blessing.
