Call to Worship
Psalm 9:1-2, 7-11

Leader:  I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.

People:  I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.

Leader:  The LORD sits enthroned forever; he has established his throne for justice.

People:  He judges the world with righteousness; he judges the peoples with uprightness.

Leader:  The LORD is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.

People:  Those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O LORD, have not forsaken those who seek you.

All:  Sing praises to the LORD, who sits enthroned in Zion!

All My Ways Are Known to You
CityAlight

In days of peace and days of rest
In times of loss and loneliness
Though rich or poor, Your word is true
That all my ways are known to You

No trial has come beyond Your hand
No step I walk beyond Your plan
The path is dark outside my view
Still all my ways are known to You

CHORUS:
And oh what peace that I have found wherever I may be
For all my ways are known to You Hallelujah, they are known to You!

I do not fear the final night
For death will be the door to life
You take my hand and lead me through
For all my ways are known to You

BRIDGE:
Open up my eyes so I may see
That You have made these ways for me
Open up my eyes so I may see
That You my God, will walk with me

Great Is Thy Faithfulness
Thomas Obediah Chishom, William Marion Runyan, John Piper.

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with Thee
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be

CHORUS:
Great is Thy faithfulness, great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine with ten thousand beside

Prayer of Confession
Galatians 5:13-23

Leader:  I do not understand my own actions.

All:  For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.

Leader:  I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh.

All:  For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.

Leader:  For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.

All:  Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?

Silent Prayers

God’s Assurance of Forgiveness
Isaiah 25:6-9

Leader:  On this mountain the LORD of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine, of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined.

All:  And he will swallow up on this mountain the covering that is cast over all peoples, the veil that is spread over all nations. He will swallow up death forever;

Leader:  …and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken.

All:  "Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the LORD; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation."

My Worth is Not in What I Own
Keith Getty, Kristyn Getty, and Graham Kendrick (2014)

My worth is not in what I own
Not in the strength of flesh and bone
But in the costly wounds of love
At the cross

My worth is not in skill or name
In win or lose, in pride or shame
But in the blood of Christ that flowed
At the cross

CHORUS:
I rejoice in my Redeemer
Greatest treasure
Wellspring of my soul
I will trust in Him, no other
My soul is satisfied in Him alone

As summer flowers we fade and die
Fame, youth and beauty hurry by
But life eternal calls to us
At the cross

I will not boast in wealth or might
Or human wisdom's fleeting light
But I will boast in knowing Christ
At the cross (Chorus)

Two wonders here that I confess
My worth and my unworthiness
My value fixed, my ransom paid
At the cross (Chorus)

Family Life
† During a brief intermission, children can go with their teachers for a lesson.
The musicians will call us back with song.

Sermon Passage
2 Corinthians 5:1-10

For we know that if the tent, which is our earthly home, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.  2 For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling,  3 if indeed by putting it on we may not be found naked.  4 For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened--not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.  5 He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.

6 So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord,  7 for we walk by faith, not by sight.  8 Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.  9 So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him.  10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

Pastor:  The grass withers and the flower fades...
All:  ...but the word of our God will stand forever.  (Isaiah 40:8)

Sermon
"A Confident Expectation"
Pastor Chris McLaughlin

Abide With Me
Words by: Henry Francis Lyte (1847); Arrangement: Indelible Grace Music

Abide with me, fast falls the eventide
The darkness deepens, Lord with me abide
When other helpers fail and comforts flee
Help of the helpless, abide with me

Thou on my head in early youth didst smile
And though rebellious and perverse meanwhile
Thou hast not left me, though I oft left Thee
On to the close Lord, abide with me

I need Thy presence, every passing hour
What but Thy grace can foil the tempter's power?
Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, abide with me

I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless
Ills have no weight, tears lose their bitterness
Where is thy sting death? Where grave thy vic - tor - y?
I triumph still, abide with me

Hold Thou Thy cross, before my closing eyes
Shine through the gloom, and point me to the skies
Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee
In life, in death, Lord, abide with me

The Lord’s Supper
† Receive bread and juice from one of our section hosts near you.  Gluten free wafers are available at the front table.  We will all eat and drink together.

By Faith
By Keith and Kristyn Getty

By faith we see the hand of God
In the light of creation’s grand design
In the lives of those who prove His faithfulness
Who walk by faith and not by sight

By faith our fathers roamed the earth
With the power of His promise in their hearts
Of a holy city built by God’s own hand
A place where peace and justice reign

CHORUS:
We will stand as children of the promise
We will fix eyes on Him, our soul’s reward
‘Till the race is finished and the work is done
We’ll walk by faith and not by sight

By faith the prophets saw a day
When the longed-for Messiah would appear
With the power to break the chains of sin and death
And rise triumphant from the grave

By faith the church was called to go
In the power of the Spirit to the lost
To deliver captives and to preach good news
In every corner of the earth    (Chorus)

By faith this mountain shall be moved
And the power of the gospel shall prevail
For we know in Christ all things are possible
For all who call upon His name    (Chorus)

Benediction
† We invite you to stretch out your hands as you receive the Lord’s blessing.
