Call to Worship
Isaiah 35:1-4a; 5-6, 10
Leader: The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad; the desert shall rejoice and blossom like the crocus;
All: it shall blossom abundantly and rejoice with joy and singing.
Leader: The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the majesty of Carmel and Sharon.
All: They shall see the glory of the Lord, the majesty of our God.
Leader: Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees. Say to those who have an anxious heart, “Be strong; fear not!” Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped; then shall the lame man leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute sing for joy. And the ransomed of the Lord shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads;
All: they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
Arise, Shine, For Your Light Has Come (Isaiah 60:1-19)
By Jered McKenna; Cardiaphonia Music (2013)
Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of God is on you
Arise, see when the earth grows dark
that the Lord will arise upon you
The Lord will arise upon you
Chorus:
Nations will come to your light
Lift up your eyes and see
We’ll gather together and come to you
And your love will be all that we know
Your love will be all that we know
Arise, come to the open gates, for the Father is welcoming you
Fear not, for the Lord brings peace and redemption to all who believe
Redemption to all who believe
The sun will not shine ‘cause You’ll be all the light that we need
And violence will end; all the wars that we wage will cease
The sun will not shine ‘cause You’ll be all the light that we need
And violence will end; all the wars that we wage will cease
We will glorify Your Name, We will glorify Your Name
There Is One Gospel
By: CityAlight
There is one Gospel on which I stand, for all eternity
It is my story, my Father’s plan, the Son has rescued me
Oh what a Gospel, Oh what a peace, my highest joy and my deepest need
Now and forever He is my light, I stand in the Gospel of Jesus
There is one Gospel to which I cling, all else I count as loss
For there, where justice and mercy meet, He saved me on the cross
No more I boast in what I can bring, No more I carry the weight of sin
For He has brought me from death to life, I stand in the Gospel of Jesus Christ
There is one Gospel where hope is found, the empty tomb still speaks
For death could not keep my Savior down, He lives and I am free
Now on my Savior, I fix my eyes, My life is His and His hope is mine!
For He has promised I, too, will rise, I stand in the Gospel of Jesus Christ
And in this Gospel the church is one, We do not walk alone
We have His Spirit as we press on, to lead us safely home
And when in glory still I will sing, of this old story that rescued me
Praise to my Saviour, the King of life, I stand in the Gospel of Jesus Christ [Repeat]
Confession of Sin
Jeremiah 17:9-13
Leader: The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?
All: "I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds."
Leader: Like the partridge that gathers a brood that she did not hatch, so is he who gets riches but not by justice; in the midst of his days they will leave him, and at his end he will be a fool.
All: A glorious throne set on high from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary.
Leader: O LORD, the hope of Israel, all who forsake you shall be put to shame; those who turn away from you shall be written in the earth, for they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living water.

Yet Not I but Through Christ in Me
By CityAlight
What gift of grace is Jesus my Redeemer
There is no more for heaven now to give
He is my joy, my righteousness, and freedom
My steadfast love, my deep and boundless peace
To this I hold, my hope is only Jesus
For my life is wholly bound to His
Oh, how strange and divine, I can sing, all is mine
Yet not I, but through Christ in me
The night is dark, but I am not forsaken
For by my side, the Savior He will stay
I labour on in weakness and rejoicing
For in my need His power is displayed
To this I hold, my Shepherd will defend me
Through the deepest valley He will lead
Oh, the night has been won, and I shall overcome
Yet not I, but through Christ in me
No fate I dread, I know I am forgiven
The future sure, the price it has been paid
For Jesus bled and suffered for my pardon
And He was raised to overthrow the grave
To this I hold, my sin has been defeated
Jesus now and ever is my plea
Oh, the chains are released, I can sing, I am free
Yet not I, but through Christ in me
With every breath I long to follow Jesus
For He has said that He will bring me home
And day by day I know He will renew me
Until I stand with joy before the throne
To this I hold, my hope is only Jesus
All the glory evermore to Him
When the race is complete, still my lips shall repeat
Yet not I, but through Christ in me

Sermon Passage
John 4:1-26
ESV Now when Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John 2 (although Jesus himself did not baptize, but only his disciples), 3 he left Judea and departed again for Galilee. 4 And he had to pass through Samaria. 5 So he came to a town of Samaria called Sychar, near the field that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. 6 Jacob's well was there; so Jesus, wearied as he was from his journey, was sitting beside the well. It was about the sixth hour.
7 There came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus said to her, "Give me a drink." 8 (For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.) 9 The Samaritan woman said to him, "How is it that you, a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a woman of Samaria?" ( For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.) 10 Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, 'Give me a drink,' you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water." 11 The woman said to him, "Sir, you have nothing to draw water with, and the well is deep. Where do you get that living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob? He gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did his sons and his livestock." 13 Jesus said to her, "Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty forever. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." 15 The woman said to him, "Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water."
16 Jesus said to her, "Go, call your husband, and come here." 17 The woman answered him, "I have no husband." Jesus said to her, "You are right in saying, 'I have no husband'; 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one you now have is not your husband. What you have said is true." 19 The woman said to him, "Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship." 21 Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. 22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." 25 The woman said to him, "I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things." 26 Jesus said to her, "I who speak to you am he."
Leader: The grass withers, the flower fades...

Abide With Me
Words by: Henry Francis Lyte (1847); Arrangement: Indelible Grace Music
Abide with me, fast falls the eventide
The darkness deepens, Lord with me abide
When other helpers fail and comforts flee
Help of the helpless, abide with me
Thou on my head in early youth didst smile
And though rebellious and perverse meanwhile
Thou hast not left me, though I oft left Thee
On to the close Lord, abide with me
I need Thy presence, every passing hour
What but Thy grace can foil the tempter's power?
Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, abide with me
I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless
Ills have no weight, tears lose their bitterness
Where is thy sting death? Where grave thy vic - tor - y?
I triumph still, abide with me
Hold Thou Thy cross, before my closing eyes
Shine through the gloom, and point me to the skies
Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee
In life, in death, Lord, abide with me

Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty
God in three persons, blessed Trinity
Holy, holy, holy, though the darkness hide Thee
Though the eyes of sinful man Thy glory may not see
Only Thou art holy, there is none beside Thee
Perfect in power, in love and purity
Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty
All Thy works shall praise Thy name in earth and sky and sea
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty
God in three persons, blessed Trinity
Benediction
† We invite you to stretch out your hands as you receive the Lord’s blessing.
