Call to Worship
Psalm 78:1-7
Leader: Give ear, O my people, to my teaching; incline your ears to the words of my mouth! I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings from of old, things that we have heard and known, that our fathers have told us.
All: We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might, and the wonders that he has done.
Leader: He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children,
All: that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments;
Prayer of Adoration
Praise to the Lord, The Almighty
By: Joachim Neander (1680); Trans. by: Catherine Winkworth (1863); Arr: Nathan Drake (2021)
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation
O my soul, praise Him, for He is your health and salvation
All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near
Praise Him in glad adoration
Praise to the Lord, who o'er all things so wondrously reigneth
Shelters thee under His wings, Yea so gently sustaineth
Hast thou not seen how thy desires e’er have been
Granted in what He ordaineth?
Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work and defend thee
Surely His goodness and mercy here daily attend thee
Ponder anew what the Almighty can do
If with His love He befriend thee
Praise to the Lord! Oh, let all that is in me adore Him
All that hath life and breath, come now with praises before Him
Let the amen sound from his people again
Gladly for aye we adore Him
The Lord’s Prayer

Confession of Sin
Psalm 78:8,10-19
Leader: and that they should not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation whose heart was not steadfast, whose spirit was not faithful to God.
They forgot his works and the wonders that he had shown them. In the sight of their fathers he performed wonders in the land of Egypt, in the fields of Zoan. He divided the sea and let them pass through it, and made the waters stand like a heap.
All: In the daytime he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a fiery light.
Leader: He split rocks in the wilderness and gave them drink abundantly as from the deep.
All: He made streams come out of the rock and caused waters to flow down like rivers.
Leader: Yet they sinned still more against him, rebelling against the Most High in the desert. They tested God in their heart by demanding the food they craved. They spoke against God, saying, "Can God spread a table in the wilderness?
Silent Prayers of Confession
Assurance of Forgiveness
Psalm 78:23-25, John 6:31-35
Leader: Yet he commanded the skies above and opened the doors of heaven, and he rained down on them manna to eat and gave them the grain of heaven. Man ate of the bread of the angels; he sent them food in abundance.
All: Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, 'He gave them bread from heaven to eat.'"
Leader: Jesus then said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.
All: For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."
Leader: They said to him, "Sir, give us this bread always."
All: Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
Great Is Thy Faithfulness
Thomas Obediah Chishom, William Marion Runyan.
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father
There is no shadow of turning with Thee
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be
CHORUS:
Great is Thy faithfulness, great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me
Summer and winter and springtime and harvest
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine with ten thousand beside

Sermon Passage
John 6:22-36
22 On the next day the crowd that remained on the other side of the sea saw that there had been only one boat there, and that Jesus had not entered the boat with his disciples, but that his disciples had gone away alone. 23 Other boats from Tiberias came near the place where they had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks. 24 So when the crowd saw that Jesus was not there, nor his disciples, they themselves got into the boats and went to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.
25 When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, "Rabbi, when did you come here?" 26 Jesus answered them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. 27 Do not labor for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal." 28 Then they said to him, "What must we do, to be doing the works of God?" 29 Jesus answered them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent." 30 So they said to him, "Then what sign do you do, that we may see and believe you? What work do you perform? 31 Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, 'He gave them bread from heaven to eat.'" 32 Jesus then said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." 34 They said to him, "Sir, give us this bread always."
35 Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe.
Leader: The grass withers, the flower fades...
All: ...but the word of our God will stand forever. (Isaiah 40:8)

"What Must I Do?"
Pastor Mike McBride
Abide
by Aaron Williams, Aaron Keyes, Jake Fauber (2023).
For my waking breath, for my daily bread
I depend on You, I depend on You
For the sun to rise, for my sleep at night
I depend on You, I depend on You
CHORUS:
You're the way, the truth and the life;
You're the well that never runs dry
I'm the branch and You are the vine;
Draw me close and teach me to abide
Where the Spirit leads as I'm following
I depend on You, yes I depend on You
For the victories still in front of me
I depend on You, yes I depend on You
CHORUS:
You're the way, the truth and the life;
You're the well that never runs dry
I'm the branch and You are the vine;
Draw me close and teach me to abide
Be my strength, my song in the night;
Be my all, my treasure, my prize
I am Yours forever You're mine;
Draw me close and teach me to abide
When I pass through death as I enter rest
I depend on You, I depend on You
For eternal life to be raised with Christ
I depend on You, I depend on You
I depend on You, I depend on You
I depend on You, I depend on You

There Is One Gospel
By: CityAlight
There is one Gospel on which I stand
for all eternity
It is my story, my Father’s plan,
the Son has rescued me
Oh what a Gospel, Oh what a peace,
my highest joy and my deepest need
Now and forever He is my light,
I stand in the Gospel of Jesus
There is one Gospel to which I cling,
all else I count as loss
For there, where justice and mercy meet,
He saved me on the cross
No more I boast in what I can bring,
No more I carry the weight of sin
For He has brought me from death to life,
I stand in the Gospel of Jesus Christ
There is one Gospel where hope is found,
the empty tomb still speaks
For death could not keep my Savior down,
He lives and I am free
Now on my Savior, I fix my eyes,
My life is His and His hope is mine!
For He has promised I, too, will rise,
I stand in the Gospel of Jesus Christ
And in this Gospel the church is one,
We do not walk alone
We have His Spirit as we press on
to lead us safely home
And when in glory still I will sing
of this old story that rescued me
Praise to my Saviour, the King of life
I stand in the Gospel of Jesus Christ
Praise to my Saviour, the King of life
I stand in the Gospel of Jesus Christ
I stand in the Gospel of Jesus Christ
Benediction
