Session One - Introduction to Nehemiah

In this lesson, we'll learn a little bit about the background of Nehemiah and three overarching themes that we will find as we read it together.

Session Two - Nehemiah 1:1-2:10

Upon hearing about the run-down state of Jerusalem, Nehemiah is crushed with grief, cries out to the Lord, and requests the king for the ability to rebuild.
Men's Teaching - Pastor Mike McBride
Women's Teaching - Rachael Reese

Session Three - Nehemiah 2:11-3:32

Nehemiah travels to Jerusalem, inspects the state of the wall by night, and then rallies the people to begin building the wall around the city.

Session Four - Nehemiah 4:1-23

Opposition to the work rises when an alliance forms between the surrounding nations.  Nehemiah leads the people to work on building the wall while preparing to defend themselves.
Pastor Chris McLaughlin

Session Five - Nehemiah 5:1-19

Problems within the community arise when sin among the elite causes a downward spiral of poverty among the poor.  Nehemiah must address this issue quickly or lose the rebuilding project.
Pastor Chris McLaughlin

Session Six - Nehemiah 6:1-7:4

Opponents to the wall project ramp up their efforts to cause Nehemiah and the Judahites to fear and stop work on the wall.  Instead, God helps them complete the project and the opponents are overcome with fear.
Men's Teaching - Pastor Mike McBride
Women's Teaching - Rachael Reese

Session Seven - Nehemiah 7:5-8:18

The people who returned to the land are counted, and then they hear the Law of God read to them once again.
Men's Teaching - Pastor Mike McBride
Women's Teaching - Megan Hoppe

Session Eight - Nehemiah 9:1-10:39

Nehemiah's prayer recounts the history of God's faithfulness to His people, and the people of God rekindle their commitment to obey God's covenant.
Pastor Mike McBride

Session Nine - Nehemiah 11:1-12:47

Key leaders move within the walls of Jerusalem to serve as spiritual leaders for all of Judah.  The people of Judah celebrate and rejoice over all that God has done for them, including God's provision of spiritual leaders.
Pastor Chris McLaughlin

Session Ten - Nehemiah 13:1-31

As Nehemiah returns to Jerusalem after a short time back in Susa, he finds the need for swift reforms in the city.
